# Promotions

Staff promotions are an important aspect of many roleplay communities, including SoCal. In our community, staff promotions occur on a weekly basis, and are based on a variety of factors, including active participation in server moderation and engagement with the community on Discord. Members who are interested in being promoted are encouraged to focus on these areas and to maintain a positive and helpful attitude at all times.

It's important to note that asking or hinting for a promotion in the SoCal community is not allowed, and can result in a staff infraction or even removal from the promotion list altogether. This policy ensures that promotions are awarded based on merit and contribution to the community, rather than on personal preference or favoritism. Members who are interested in being promoted should focus on actively moderating the server and engaging with the community in positive and meaningful ways.

In order to be promoted within the SoCal staff team, members must be actively moderating the server and starting conversations within the Discord. Additionally, it's important to note that members can only progress one rank at a time. For example, if you are a moderator, you can only be promoted to senior moderator (with some exceptions). If you feel that you have exceeded all expectations and have not been promoted, you can ask in a ticket. However, it's important to remember that promotions are not guaranteed and that all promotions are awarded based on merit and contribution to the community.
